Unit 60

Air Mengalir

Apabila satu hujung dulang ditinggikan, permukaan menjadi condong.

Air Mengalir
Langkah 1

Air bergerak apabila permukaan condong

Apabila satu hujung dulang ditinggikan, permukaan menjadi condong.

dulang rata → tinggikan satu hujung → condong
Permukaan condong =
Permukaan condong = sloping surface
Water on a flat tray does not move much in one direction. When one end of the tray is raised, the surface becomes a slope, and the water starts moving. Example: Put a book under one leg of a table, and spilled water slowly runs toward the other side. Watch out: Start with the tray lying flat, so you can compare it with the raised tray.
Langkah 2

Tinggi ke rendah = high to low
On a slope, water flows from the higher part to the lower part. We show the direction of flow with an arrow pointing from the high side to the low side. Example: A bathroom floor is built slightly sloped, so shower water runs into the drain. Watch out: Do not draw the arrow backwards; its tip must point to the lower side.
Langkah 3

Ujian adil memerlukan pemerhatian terancang

Ujian adil = fair test
Use the same amount of water and the same tray, and change only the height of one end. Then observe the flow and sketch its direction. That shows what the height change does. Example: Pour 100 mℓ of water each time, first with one block under the tray, then with two blocks. Watch out: Changing the amount of water each time makes the results impossible to compare.

Air mengalir ke bahagian yang...

Air mengalir ke bahagian =
Air mengalir ke bahagian = water flows to the part
The question asks which part water flows to. Recall from Step 2 where gravity pulls water on a slope. Think about whether water can climb up by itself or always stay level. Example: Pour a little water at the top of a playground slide, and it runs down to the ground. Watch out: Read the direction carefully; do not mix up uphill and downhill.

Apakah dibuat untuk menghasilkan cerun?

Menghasilkan cerun =
Menghasilkan cerun = making a slope
The question asks what to do to turn the tray into a slope. 'Cerun' means a slope, high on one side and low on the other. Recall how the tray changed from flat to sloping in Step 1. Would dipping it in water or covering it make it tilt? Example: A plank resting on a stair becomes a ramp for toy cars. Watch out: A slope needs the two ends at different heights.
