Kenal pasti kumpulan = Identify the groups Multiplication and division problems usually have three kinds of numbers: the number of groups, the amount in each group, and the total. First see which two are given and which one is missing. The missing one decides the operation. Example: '4 shelves with 9 books on each' asks for the total: 4 × 9 = 36 books. Watch out: The number after 'each' is usually the amount per group.
Langkah 2
Pilih operasi
Gunakan darab untuk mencari jumlah, dan bahagi untuk mencari bilangan kumpulan atau bilangan setiap kumpulan.
cari jumlah: × · cari kumpulan: ÷
Darab atau bahagi =
Darab atau bahagi = Multiply or divide To find a total, multiply: groups × amount in each group. When the total is known and you need the number of groups or the amount in each, divide: total ÷ the number you know. Choose first, then count. Example: 32 pupils form teams of 8. How many teams? The total is known, so divide: 32 ÷ 8 = 4 teams. Watch out: Multiplying when the total is already given makes the answer far too big.
Langkah 3
Tafsir baki
Baca konteks untuk menentukan sama ada baki dibiarkan atau memerlukan satu kumpulan tambahan.
Tafsir baki = Interpret the remainder When there is a remainder, the story decides the answer. Sometimes the leftover is ignored, such as 'how many boxes can be filled'. Sometimes one more group is needed, such as 'how many cars are needed', because leftover people need a ride too. Example: 26 people ride in cars of 5: 26 ÷ 5 = 5 remainder 1, so 6 cars are needed. Watch out: Asking for the least number needed often means one extra group.

Ada 5 kotak. Setiap kotak mempunyai 7 pensel. Berapakah jumlah pensel?
Jumlah pensel = Total pencils The question gives 5 boxes, which are the groups, and 7 pencils in each box, then asks for the total, so multiply 5 × 7. Skip count by sevens five times. Or swap it to 7 × 5 and check with the table of 5. Example: 4 boxes with 6 pencils in each: 4 × 6 = 24 pencils. Watch out: The question wants a total of equal groups, so do not just add 5 and 7.

54 keping setem dibahagi sama banyak kepada 6 orang murid. Setiap murid mendapat…
Setiap murid = Each pupil The question gives a total of 54 stamps shared equally among 6 pupils and asks how many each gets, so divide: 54 ÷ 6. Find 54 in the table of 6. Then check that your answer × 6 gives back 54. Example: 20 photos shared equally into 4 albums: 20 ÷ 4 = 5 photos each. Watch out: The total is given and you need each share, so this is division, not multiplication.
