Clothes and this or these
Clothes have different names. We also change the pointing word when we talk about one item or more than one.
Name the clothes
Use jeans, sweater, jacket, skirt, shorts, cap, shoes, socks, T-shirt and trousers. Use Put on before the item when giving a dressing instruction.
Example: Put on your jacket before you go outside.

Give a dressing instruction
Use Put on your before the clothing word. Some clothing words, such as shorts and trousers, look plural even when they mean one item.

Use this for one and these for more
Use this before one nearby thing. Use these before two or more nearby things. In a question, say Do you like this ...? or Do you like these ...?
Example: Do you like this cap? Do you like these shoes?

Make two groups: one-item words and plural-form words. Point to an item from each group and ask a partner a this or these question.
Example: cap → Do you like this cap?; shoes → Do you like these shoes?
